How to maintain and inspect the shaft head car wheel hub bearing

2023-11-18

Wheel hub bearings are components used on automobile axles to bear load and provide guidance for the rotation of the wheel hub. They bear both axial and radial loads and are an important part of the vehicle's load-bearing and rotation.

Wheel hub bearings are important running parts of automobiles. The wheel hub shaft is responsible for reducing the friction resistance of the chassis during operation and maintaining the normal driving of the car. If the wheel hub bearing fails, it may cause noise, bearing heating, etc., especially the front wheel, which may easily lead to dangerous phenomena such as loss of direction. Therefore, wheel hub bearings must be maintained regularly.

1. Inspection of wheel hub bearings

(1) When checking the tightness of the wheel hub bearing, first set up the axle of the wheel at one end of the wheel hub of the car to be inspected, and use tools such as car stools and car covers to set up the car safely.

(2) Turn the wheel under inspection several times by hand to see if it rotates smoothly and if there is any abnormal noise. If the rotation is not smooth and there is friction sound, it means that the brake part is not normal; if there is no noise, the rotation is not smooth and it is tight and loose, it means that the bearing part is not normal. When the above abnormal phenomena occur, the wheel hub should be disassembled and inspected. For small cars, when checking the wheel bearings, hold the upper and lower sides of the tire with both hands, pull the tire back and forth with both hands, and repeat this multiple times. If it is normal, there should be no feeling of looseness or blockage; if there is an obvious feeling of looseness in the swing, the wheel hub should be disassembled and inspected.

(3) Braking inspection. Usually when checking the wheel hub bearing, the wheel brake device is also checked. If there are oil stains on the inside of the tire, it is likely to be caused by oil leakage from the brake cylinder or brake oil pipe. The cause should be found out and eliminated in time.
